特色课程介绍

哈维中文学校招收年满五岁以上中外儿童和成人学生,教授普通话,汉语拼音及简体字。学校设有从幼大班至十年级中文班。 另有绘画,儿童及成人舞蹈和合唱,Zumba 健身舞,瑜伽,武术,太极,高中物理竞赛,奥林匹克数学,高中数学竞赛, 机器人等多中选修课。

哈维中文学校(HCCS)已与Howard Community College (HCC) 就中文(9-10年级)课程授予大学学分合作项目达成协议。 HCC 社区大学学分可以作为大学本科生的基础必修学分,被绝大多数的大学认可(含哈佛大学,宾州大学,康奈尔大学,马里兰大学等等)。 参加这一项目的同学,将和其他 HCC 注册学生一样,有机会使用多种 HCC 学校设施。

   双语一

双语一是为无中文背景的学生开设的一门初级中文课程。所使用的教材是《阳阳中文 - 对话版》第一册。本课程主要根据课文内容,通过游戏、歌曲、童谣和中国 文化活动等不同的学习形式来加强学生的中文听、说、读、写能力。通过学习该课程,学生会认读100个生字和58个双/多音节词;分角色表演12个对话;阅读12首中文童谣;学习表示感谢、道歉,表达爱好,描述动作、地点、方位、颜色、身体等。

   双语二

双语二这是继双语一之后的一门初级中文课程。所使用的教材是《阳阳中文 - 对话版》第二册。本课程主要根据课文内容,通过游戏、歌曲、童谣和中国文化活动等不同的学习形式来加强学生的中文听、说、读、写能力。通过学习该课程,学生会认读110个生字和75个双/多音节词;分角色表演12个对话;阅读12篇课文;学习表达时间和个人能力,描述交通工具、距离、快慢、身体状况,和做比较等。学生还可以和家长一起朗读课文后面的儿歌。

   双语三

双语三是继双语二之后的又一门初级中文课程。所用教材《快乐汉语》由中国汉办专门为海外学生设计,有拼音及英文注释。双语三将帮助学生继续汉语学习,探索中国语言的神秘,增加对汉语学习的兴趣。本课程强调中文初级阶段的听、说、读、写,和日常口语练习;以课程材料为基础的同时,将介绍中国文化的一些特色,如中国儿童诗歌、游戏、音乐、绘画、传统故事、传统节日等。本课程学习《快乐汉语》第二册前半部分第一至第四单元,每单元包含三篇课文。学习第一单元《我和朋友》、第二单元《我的家》、第三单元《购物》和第四单元《学校生活》将帮助学生在实际生活中应用汉语。通过学习该课程,学生能用中文介绍自己、会认读250-300个生词、会用中文造句。大年龄的学生还可以写简单短文和故事。

   双语四

双语四是在完成双语三《快乐汉语》第二册第一单元到第四单元的基础上,继续学习《快乐汉语》第二册第五单元到第八单元,每单元三篇课文。学生将学习第五单元《环境与健康》,第六单元《时尚与娱乐》,第七单元《媒体》和第八单元《旅游与风俗》等各类型课文,并辅以介绍中国文化的电视,游戏等活动帮助学生在实际生活中应用汉语。通过双语四的学习,学生将在汉语的听、说、读、写、译等各方面得到全面提高。

   朗朗中文幼小班

《朗朗中文》 是为海外少年儿童设计研发的一套中文教材。分为入门、初级、中级和高级四个阶段。本课程根据海外中文教育的特点,综合考虑海外儿童缺少中文语境、学习时间不多等因素,科学合理地安排学习内容。在字、词、句、篇的编排上,力求做到浅显易懂、生动有趣。重在培养海外儿童中文学习兴趣,全面提高中文“听、说、读、打、写”的综合能力。

朗朗中文幼小班学习目标:1、培养对中文的浓厚兴趣,认读230个字,175个词组,会唱28首中文儿歌;2、学会打招呼、告别、感谢以及问候和介绍等;3、学会表达时间、数量、天气、颜色、动物、食物等;4、 学习表达行为状态、用餐、购物等;5、 学习提问和回答简单的问题。课程结构:对话 + 课堂活动 + 儿歌 + 每日家庭作业(活动手册)。活动设计:简单对话,中国文化活动,游戏、歌曲、手势、绕口令、唱儿歌、手工活动等。

   朗朗中文幼大班

朗朗中文课程采用最新中文教学理念和教学方法,运用纸质教材与互联网互动课程相结合的学习模式,围绕世界语标准中的5C教学目标,遵照中国国家汉办/孔子学院总部制定的《新中小学生汉语考试》(YCT)和《新汉语水平考试》(HSK)标准。其中,1-6册是中国国家汉办/孔子学院总部推荐采用的YCT适用课程。 教学内容: 认, 读, 写汉字, 词语, 数字, 颜色, 形状, 儿歌, 童谣. 讲故事,做游 戏,画一画,贴一贴, 及说一说,讲一讲。

    In this class, students will focus on the writing and speaking skills of Chinese Language. They are going to promote their language skills though practice of expressing their feelings and experiences with different topics, such as self, family, schools, communities, travel, health and shopping. They will not only read and understand the language literally, but also read between and beyond the lines of the samples of describing in details. And create their own speaking and writing samples as well.

  • 十年级中国文化

    With the solid foundation of the Chinese language skills learned in previous classes, we will explore the Chinese culture in different categories such as history, geography, nationalities, customs, traditional values, literature, arts, and inventions. The essential knowledge of Chinese Culture will help our students learn the Chinese tradition, with which they are able to use the language authentically and keep our heritage in the future.

   AMC Beginner

This class is intended for high school students who are interested and talented in math. In some cases middle school students who are enrolled in the Howard County accelerated math program will find the class useful, as well. In general, it is expected that the students have finished Algebra I, Geometry, and are at least learning Algebra II. The class will also cover some materials in trigonometry and complex numbers. The materials discussed in the class are usually more advanced and involved than those taught in high school classrooms. And this class will focus more on problem solving skills and mathematical thinking, rather than concepts and basic operation rules as in high school classrooms.

The majority of the lectures are mutually independent. You don’t have to understand one to understand the next one. Therefore, if one lecture covers material that you have not learned in school, it would be OK to skip it. More in detail

   AMC Competition

This one-year course aims to help students prepare for the high school math competitions AMC and AIME. It also provides an opportunity for the students to enhance concepts and skills that were learned in regular school classes. More in detail

   AP物理 I

AP 物理 1 是一门每周两个小时,历时两学期的物理课程。本课程的目标是教授学生基础的物理学知识,在探索物理的概念过程中准备AP物理1考试。本课程是针对13岁以上或者8 年级以上的学生。不要求学生有物理学的背景。完成这门课程,学生可以在他们所在的高中报名参加AP 物理1的考试,学生也可以继续在HCCS 上AP物理 2, 或在他们高中注册其他与物理有关的课程。本课程要求学生有自驱力,有较强的数学背景(几何和代数2),对物理学习有兴趣。 年龄要求: 至少13岁或八年级以上。

   AP物理 II

AP 物理 2一门每周两个小时,历时两学期的物理课程。本课程的目标是近一步教授学生的物理学知识,在探索物理的概念过程中准备AP物理2考试。本课程是针对14岁以上或者9 年级以上的学生。要求学生已经在HCCS上过AP物理1或在别处上过类似的课程。完成这门课程,学生可以在他们所在的高中报名参加AP 物理2的考试,学生也可以在他们高中注册其他与物理有关的课程。本课程要求学生有自驱力,有较强的数学背景(几何和代数2),对物理学习有兴趣。 年龄要求: 至少14岁或九年级以上。

   儿童合唱团

哈维儿童合唱团成立于2012年,招收6岁以上的儿童。老师结合学生的特点,培养学生声乐舞台表演的综合能力,如:视唱练耳,识谱节奏,气息运用和舞台形体。通过训练,提高孩子们的唱歌兴趣,为各种舞台演出储备节目,并增强孩子们的舞台表演经验。

武月霞,儿童合唱团老师,从事多年的幼儿教学和幼儿园管理工作(曾任幼儿园园长),有多年的舞台演出经验。退休后在社区艺术团担任艺术指导,负责声乐教学和舞蹈编排,并多次组织和导演社区大型晚会。

   少儿绘画

本课程教授学生基本的构图及简单的色彩知识。培养学生的观察和理解能力,以及眼、手的配合能力,加强对绘画的认识,扩大知识面,提升绘画技艺及艺术素养。

  1. 基础构图:让学生了解构图的重要性。
  2. 色彩:简单的色彩知识,三原色、冷色、暖色、邻近色、对比色等。
  3. 简单素描:让学生通过观察,试着去理解,并准确描绘物体的轮廓。

  5. 线描:通过对线条的运用,了解线条的美感。
  6. 卡通:了解卡通画的绘画特点及绘画手法。

总之,动物、植物、建筑、静物、人物、游戏里的角色等,都将是入画的素材。

王晓天是哈维中文学校教授少儿绘画的老师。教学特点:根据海外中文学校的特点(班级中,学生年龄参差不齐),她总结了一套灵活的教学方法,让学生既能学到新东西,又能保持自己的风格和对绘画的热爱。王晓天教师毕业于昆明理工大学 、建筑装潢专业。在哈维中文学校具有四年的教学经验,是一位学生们喜爱的、敬业的老师。王晓天教师目前有一个孩子在哈维三年级学习。她觉得哈维不仅对孩子的中文学习帮助很大;而且,作为家长和老师,几年下来,也收获良多。并且希望在新的学年,能够和学生一起,去体会绘画的乐趣。

   中国画教师介绍

刘葵,中国画教师,祖父刘奎龄、父亲刘继卣为中国著名画家,自幼秉承家学,从事美术创作和教学多年,作品为中南海、人民大会堂等收藏,历年参加全国美展及文化部、外贸部组织的中国赴欧洲、美洲丶亚洲等多国展览,在中国、美国、比列时、日本、新加坡、香港等国家和地区举办各人画展,今春三月做为北美画院代表团成员应中国侨联、中国美协的邀请访问中国,作品为保利、嘉得及香港的拍卖行拍卖。可上Google、百度等查看刘葵,或查看LiuKwai、Liukwai.com。刘葵老师的教学特点是:教授绘画题材广泛,如山水、花鸟、动物、人物等;根据不同年龄、程度、同一班级可分几个级别教学。除绘画之外,刘葵老师还爱好音乐欣赏、诗词写作、旅游等。 Ms Kwai Liu started her painting art career, at age of four, under the dedicated guidance of her father Mr Liu Jiyou who was a well-known master artist of traditional chinese painting in China, She actively participate in many local and national art exhibitions and activities, and won various awards.Several of her paintings were published, and some were collected as the exhibition at the Great Hall 0f the People in Beijing and other public places.

   FLL

FLL是一个针对9-14岁孩子的国际比赛项目。FIRST机构 (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)每年8月末公布年度挑战研究课题和机器人比赛项目。鼓励孩子们通过科学调查研究提出自己解决挑战课题的新颖解决方案,并动手设计机器人完成比赛项目。孩子们利用LEGO MINDSTORMS 控制处理模块和LEGO积木在教练和辅导员的指导下设计、搭建并编程控制机器人来解决比赛中模拟的现实问题。12周后,赛季在一个运动会式的机器人比赛中达到高潮。

FIRST LEGO League的核心理念是:我们是一个携手合作的团队,我们在游戏中快乐地学习!我们在教练和辅导员的指导下,自己努力地去寻求问题的解决方案。我们更重视比赛过程中的收获。我们乐意分享我们的经验和成果。我们从做每一件小事上体现出高尚的职业修养,竞争与合作精神。

   围棋教师介绍

陈思根是哈维中文学校教授围棋(GO)的老师,Ph.D., Clemson University。对围棋与文化有一定的理解,两段段位。过去四年曾在中文学校董事会义务服务,业余时间喜欢打羽毛球。愿意和同学们一起学习围棋弈术,体会围棋精神。

   Martial Arts Teacher Introduction

We will be offering Chinese Wushu as one of our activities at HCCS. The coach's name is Ching Lee. He has been a martial arts coach for 15 years and a practitioner for 24 years. He is currently teaching at Hope Chinese School Bethesda Campus, Hope Chinese School College Park Campus, and, Howard County Chinese School. His former coaching positions included being the Head Coach of UMD's TerpWushu Club for 3 years, and coach at O-Mei Wushu Center for 3 years. He is founder and head coach in GOSU Institute of Chinese Martial Arts(www.gosumartialarts.com). He was a former two-time US Wushu Team Member and Pan American Wushu Games medalist.    MathCounts Competition

MATHCOUNTS is a middle school mathematics competition held in the United States. Its founding sponsors include the CNA Foundation, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The competition is designed for sixth, seventh and eighthgraders.

This course is intended for motivated middle school students who are planning to participate in the mathcounts competition. The objective of this course is to prepare students for the competitions. In addition to lecturing, we will spend part of each class to do some actual mathcounts competition problems. Students are expected to actively participate in discussions and spend time at home to study.

The first semester lessons focus on problem solving skills to help students to leverage their existing knowledge and be ready for the competition in January. In the second semester, we will review and extend several knowledge topics to provide a more solid background for the students, so one can do better if one takes the competition in the following year.

Prerequisite: This course is open to middle school students (age 12+) who have taken Mathcounts courses at HCCS in previous years.

   MathCounts Fundamental

MATHCOUNTS is a middle school mathematics competition held in the United States. Its founding sponsors include the CNA Foundation, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In the second semester, we will review and extend several knowledge topics to provide a more solid background for the students, so one can do better if one takes the competition in the following year.

Prerequisite: This course is open to middle school students (age 11+) or those younger students who have taken Olympic Math courses at HCCS plus a teacher’s recommendation.

   瑜伽

瑜伽健身操是目前健身的热门项目。它是以瑜伽的体式、呼吸法和伸展法为基础,将芭蕾、健美操、中国舞等元素融合进去,配以节奏舒缓,旋律优美的音乐。常做能够解除心理压力,排除体内毒素,有效调理身心,轻松瘦身。而且瑜伽健身操不受时间、环境的约束,只要有片刻时间,就可以在站、坐、卧的姿态中进行练习。

陈海燕是哈维中文学校歌城分校瑜伽老师。陈海燕老师本科毕业于南方医科大学(MD),研究生则毕业于SUNY at Albany(PhD in Biometry & Statistics), 现在任职马大牙医学院。陈海燕老师有一个孩子现在哈维中文学校就读。业余时间陈老师研习瑜伽和并研习中国古典舞、民族民间舞多年。陈老师持有美国Yoga Alliance注册瑜伽导师资格 (RYT200)。

胡鸿在中文学校教瑜伽已经有将近十年了。胡鸿老师于2010年拿到瑜伽教师证书,from Columbia Yoga Center。 除了在中文学校教课以外, 胡老师还在University of MD Baltimore URecFit 教课。主要从事成人瑜伽的教学, 以求让越来越多的人认识瑜伽, 练习瑜伽, 获益于瑜伽, 在竞争越来越激烈的社会中, 通过瑜伽练习保持骄人的身材, 改善身体体质, 缓解精神压力。

   尊巴健身舞(Zumba)
